Marcus Transformers

Marcus Transformer of Canada offers competitive prices, on-time delivery and expert technical assistance. Their transformer product listings include electric transformers, power transformers, distribution transformers and low voltage transformers. Single phase and three phase transformers are also among their product offering. Marcus is a world leaders in transformers.

Dry-Type Industrial Transformers

Cooled by Normal Air Ventilation

Distribution transformers are so named because they distribute low voltage power (5KV and below) to the customers who use electricity at the end of the supply grid. "Dry type" simply means it is cooled by normal air ventilation. The dry type transformer does not require a liquid such as oil or silicone or any other liquid to cool the electrical core and coils. The transformer case is ventilated to allow air to flow and cool the coil(s). Because they are "dry-type" they contain no dangerous fluids and require no special fire proof vaults or venting of toxic gases. These safety features allow dry type transformers to be installed inside buildings and in locations close to the consumer, which improves overall transformer efficiency. Marcus dry type transformers are safe, highly efficient and trouble-free. They require minimum maintenance to provide many years of reliable trouble free service.

Industrial Control Transformers

Machine Tool Transformers

Industrial control transformers (also known as machine tool transformers) fill the size range from 25VA to 7500VA and up to 600volts. They are used to step-up or step-down the supply voltage for the operation of electromagnetic devices such as timers, relays, contactors or solenoid switches. A critical element in their proper usage is to supply correct voltage during short-term periods of inrush currents, providing isolation to control components from power surges and lighting circuits.

Auto-Transformers

Economical Alternative to Distribution Transformers

Auto transformers are often chosen as an economical alternative to distribution transformers when electrical isolation between the primary power source and the secondary load is not required. They are used to match the supply voltage to the specific equipment voltage required and do so by tapping off of a common winding, therefore reducing both the size and the weight of the transformer required compared to an equivalent distribution transformer. These units are available both in single and three phase, can be used in either a step-up or step-down direction, and can be ordered in 60Hz or 50Hz designs. The benefit in using these transformers instead of popular buck-boost combinations is that no complicated connection charts or internal jumpers are necessary. You simply install, connect the cables to the labeled lugs, and energize.

Line Reactors

Ideal for Motors and Drives

Line reactor transformers are available for applications from 2 amps to 500 amps and are offered in either 3% or 5% impedance depending on their usage. They are generally used with motors and drives. By and large, many of these applications are prone to overload conditions and severe power disturbances.

Custom Distribution Transformers

For Lighting and Standard Equipment

Custom distribution transformers refer to transformers which are not commonly used for powering lighting and standard equipment in a region from the normal voltage supplied by the utility. The off-the-shelf transformer is normally 480-120/208 or 600-120/208 in standard KVA ratings.

Custom Control Transformers

When a Special Voltage Combination Is Required

Custom Industrial Control Transformers are commonly used when a special voltage combination is required. These specially tailored models are generally used in lighting relays, solenoids, switch gears, panel boards, motors, air conditioners and heating hvac. Many of our models are available in 60Hz and 50Hz. Our extensive line of custom models range from 25VA to 7500VA. Marcus uses bobbin-wound copper coils which generate greater efficiencies and superior heat evacuation. All models incorporate a maintenance-free design.
